Large Vintage Royal Doulton “Parson Brown” Character Jug.

Royal Doulton “Parson Brown” Character Jug (sometimes referred to as “Toby Jugs”) from an estate sale, originally sold by Dennis Clifton, La Verne, CA.

“Parson Brown” was not an actual person but a phrase used to describe a priest of the 18th century who would travel around marrying couples, memorialized in the song “Winter Wonderland”… “and he’ll say are you married, we’ll say no man, but you can do the job when you’re in town.”

This is just a very special piece in pristine condition, no crazing, cracks or chips. Designer = Max Henk, artist = A Tranter. “A” kiln mark, 6.5”x5.5”x8”, 1lbs. 11.5oz. before packaging.
