This is the Robo Force Maxx Steele Robot Telephone, a novelty corded phone released in 1984.
While Maxx Steele is most famous as the high-tech, 2-foot-tall programmable robot (one of the "holy grails" of 80s toy collecting), this desktop version was a licensed tie-in produced by Carlton (under license from CBS Toys/Ideal).
Product Highlights
• Design: Modeled after Maxx Steele, the leader of the Robo Force. He features the signature "suction cup" style base and "crusher" arms typical of the toy line.
• The Phone: The robot’s chest serves as the cradle for the handset. When you lift the handset you reveal a standard 1980s keypad.
• Features: It included pulse/tone dialing, a last-number redial, and a "mute" button—fairly standard for the era, but wrapped in a very cool "tech-warrior" shell. This phone is in great shape but un-tested.
