Norwalk, CT: Easton Press, 2002. Like New. Collector's Edition. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. SIGNED on the signature page by Joan Didion. The book is tight with solid hinges, good corners, and clean boards. Textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate or markings. Bound in leather with raised bands to the spine, 22 kt accents, gilded pages, silk moiré endpapers, hubbed spine, and sewn-in satin bookmark. A few nicks to the side and two faint scratches to the bottom fore-edges, else gold gilt to page edges is Fine. 269 pages. 5¾ x 8¾ " tall.

Grace Strasser-Mendana controls much of Boca Grande’s wealth and knows virtually all of its secrets; Charlotte Douglas knows far too little. “Immaculate of history, innocent of politics,” Charlotte has come to Boca Grande vaguely and vainly hoping to be reunited with her fugitive daughter. As imagined by Didion, her fate is at once utterly particular and fearfully emblematic of an age of conscienceless authority and unfathomable violence.
