An exceptional piece of Mid-Century Modern design with a monumental pedigree. This sculptural candlestick was designed by the legendary Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, inspired directly by the Olympic Torch he created for the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.
Vázquez, the visionary behind the National Museum of Anthropology and the Aztec Stadium, masterfully translated his architectural language into this sleek, functional object. The piece features a striking bi-color contrast, pairing a tapered polished aluminum top with a weighted matte black conical base.
This is the larger version of the design, standing at approximately 14.75 inches tall. It is remarkably versatile, designed to accommodate various candle sizes including tapers and votives.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with light, honest wear consistent with age. The original felt is intact and in excellent condition.
