Information about the artist:
Charles Campbell (19051985) was born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised in Springfield before moving to Cleveland at seventeen. There he studied at the Cleveland School of Art (now the Cleveland Institute of Art), earning his degree in 1928 and teaching briefly before turning fully to painting. His early influences included the draftsmanship of Daumier, Renoirs tonal mastery, El Grecos luminosity, and Picassos line and form, all of which shaped his distinctive style.
