The book begins with her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph and her struggles to adapt to the strict and rigid life of the Austrian court. She is portrayed as a free-spirited and independent woman who resents the constraints of her royal duties. She finds solace in her travels and becomes a passionate advocate for Hungarian independence. As the story unfolds, Sisi's personal life becomes entangled in political turmoil. She is targeted by extremists and survives several assassination attempts. Despite her husband's efforts to protect her, Sisi becomes increasingly isolated and paranoid. The novel reaches its climax with Sisi's assassination in 1898 by an Italian anarchist. The book portrays her death as a tragic and senseless act of violence that ultimately leads to her martyrdom.”
