Meyer Optik Trioplan 100mm F2.8 Old Lens
Exakta mount. This mount is ideal for adapting to mirrorless cameras due to the abundance and affordability of conversion mounts.
Released in 1936. This old lens gained fame on Instagram for its ability to capture bubble bokeh and soap bubble bokeh with emphasized outlines. This "Soap bubble bokeh" is produced by a triplet lens configuration, and while other lenses offer similar effects, none create bokeh as clearly defined as this one. Consequently, prices have soared in recent years, making it difficult to find a beautiful example for under tens of thousands of yen.
This is a later model, designed to reduce the number of aperture blades to facilitate camera-side operations like aperture-priority shooting. However, the resulting hexagonal ghosting and bokeh when slightly stopped down are now considered unique. The zebra design is also characteristic of this era.
Sample photos taken with this lens are provided.
The distinct bubble bokeh, resembling lines drawn with a ballpoint pen, is a unique feature. Even considering it as a standard telephoto old lens, it's attractive, with light diffusion, soft resolution, and gentle color reproduction typical of lenses from this period. Especially when photographing people, it can smooth skin and create a scene reminiscent of a story, as shown in the examples.
There are cleaning marks on the front and rear elements, and some dust and debris are visible, but there is no noticeable mold or haze, and the optics are good. The exterior has scratches. Older cameras had a function where you would press a lever to stop down the aperture only when taking a picture. The automatic aperture lever does not function, so you will always be shooting at the actual aperture setting, meaning the aperture will change as you turn the aperture ring. For use with a mount adapter, it's actually more convenient without this function, but this is a point to note.
Offered at a bargain price, so please consider it.
