Obverse, There is a small, irregular raised blob or "chip" directly below and slightly to the left of Jefferson's left eye (viewer's right). This appears as a whitish, blob-like protrusion on the cheek area, consistent with a die chip—a small piece of the obverse die breaking off during production, leaving a void that fills with metal on subsequent strikes.
