Lovely vintage matched pair of Victorian era figurines marked Made in Japan, likely produced in the 1950s to early 1960s. The set features an elegantly dressed couple in pastel tones with hand painted gold trim. The gentleman wears a green coat with floral patterned waistcoat and brown breeches, posed on a scrollwork base. The lady wears a burgundy bodice with ruffled neckline, pale green overskirt and pastel blue and pink underskirt, finished with a dramatic tricorn style hat and a pink rose in hand. The colors are soft yet vibrant and the glaze has a nice sheen. Both figurines present beautifully and are in excellent condition without notable flaws, showing only light age related wear at the bases typical for vintage display pieces.
