This piece from Westmoreland Glass Company, is based in Grapeville, Pennsylvania. Westmoreland was famous for its high-quality milk glass and decorative satin finishes.
Design Features: The "Beaded Edge" (the row of small glass spheres around the rim) and the "Fluted Finial" (the vertical ridges on the lid handle) are signature elements used by Westmoreland for their candy and trinket dishes.
Production Era: These pieces were most commonly produced between the 1950s and 1960s. The satin finish was achieved by treating the glass with acid to give it that soft, matte appearance.
Material Note: Many green glass pieces from this era contain trace amounts of uranium to achieve the color. If you have a blacklight (UV light), you can check if it glows a bright neon green; if it does, it is considered "Uranium Glass," which is highly sought after by collectors.
